Beat the Bloat: Our 24-hr Guide


We hear this all too frequently from friends and clients:

"I'm so bloated, how can I look and feel better FAST?"

We hear you, bloating happens to the best of us! 

A bloated belly can occur for many reasons: overindulgence, stress, a specific food or gluten intolerance, etc. 

Whatever the cause, we've heard your cries for help

Today we give you our trusty Bloat-Be-Gone Plan:

This 24hr plan is not designed as a long-term weight loss tool. If you have a consistent bloating problem, we suggest you dig deeper into the cause of your sweet belly's discomfort. 

Follow the guidelines below and wake up tomorrow with a flatter belly, guaranteed! 

9:00pm TONIGHT BEFORE ZZZ's
Hot Toddy Time
-Sip a cup of warm water with 2 tbsp. Natural Calm magnesium supplement powder mixed in
-This gets your digestive system moving and helps clear out anything that might be backing you up

7:00am MORNING MASSAGE
-Find a comfy spot on your floor, lie on your back and bend both knees into your chest.
-Hug the knees in tight and then rock your knees from side to side to help massage your abdominal organs and get things moving.
-Release the knees away from your belly, lowering the toes to the floor for a few seconds. Repeat a few more times.

7:15am HOT LEMON WATER
-Mix 8-12oz of hot water with the juice of 1 lemon
-sip sip away as you get ready for your day
-Water fights constipation and flushes excess bloat-inducing sodium out of your body
-Lemon acts as a natural digestive aid and diuretic
-Make sure you continue to drink water throughout the day. Aim for a minimum of 3 liters today
-Avoid straws—using straws can increase the air in your stomach, causing it to pooch. 

8:00am BREAKFAST
Have a protein-rich smoothie
-Mix 8oz of water, 1 scoop of Vega Sport Protein Powder (Vanilla), and 1 cup fresh or frozen Pineapple (optional)
-A liquid breakfast will be easier on your digestive system, and your goal today is to be as easy on your insides as possible since stress and delays in your intestines and stomach show up as pooch and bloat in your belly.
-Pineapple has digestive enzymes that aid in digestion

12:00pm LUNCH
Pass on your usual crispy raw salad and opt for a grilled veggie salad + portion of lean protein (chicken, salmon, or bun-less turkey burger)
-Cooked vegetables are much easier to digest than raw
-Today avoid possible gas-inducing veggies like broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, or brussels sprouts
-CHEW each bite between 30-50 times! Make your teeth do most of the digestive work today (and everyday)

3:00pm AFTERNOON SNACK
Protein and Probiotic rich pick-me up
-Enjoy a Kombucha and a handful of raw unsalted almonds
-The Kombucha contains enzymes and probiotics that aid in digestion and give the body a natural energy boost! 
-The almonds satisfy hunger with protein and fat content

7:00pm DINNER
Stick to a simple and easily digestible soup
-End the day with another liquid meal. Soup is easy to digest, and its high water content will keep your system moving and leave you feeling satisfied. 
-Make sure to stay away from regular canned soups, which contain too much bloat-inducing salt. Try something with flavor and spice! 

11:00pm LIGHTS OUT
Sleep is a key component to this days plan. Give your body the rest it needs to restore and de-stress. Tomorrow morning your body and your belly will feel energetic and look light!

-DO SOMETHING YOU LOVE: Call a friend, go on a walk, listen to your favorite jams. Do things today that lift your mood and make you smile. Relaxation of spirit will translate to relaxation of intestines.
